The South African Occupational Health and Safety Act states that the purpose of the Act is: To provide for the health and safety of persons at work and for the health and safety of persons in connection with the use of plant and machinery; the protection of persons other than persons at work against hazards to health and safety arising out of or in connection with the activities of persons at work; to establish an advisory council for occupational health and safety; and to provide for matters connected therewith.
It is therefore a legal requirement to have Occupational Health and Safety implemented within your company and advisable that a company does an Occupational Health and Safety Audit.
The objective of the audit is to systematically and independently examine the processes as well as the documentation in place for OHS and through the process identify the strengths and weaknesses within a workplace’s OHS program in various areas such as accountability, policy, hazard identification and control, training and communication.
The need for HR today is greater than ever. Research shows that due to the tremendous need to reskill employees and transform organisations HR solves some of the most pressing dilemmas in business today.
